Our Chocolate & Caramels
All of Sleepy Jean’s offerings start with one of its 5 types of chocolates or its freshly made caramel. The chocolate is made with roasted cacao beans (organic and/or Fair Trade when available) and organic and Fair Trade sugars and cocoa butter. Types of chocolate include:
- 68% Very Dark Chocolate
- This is our darkest chocolate and is our most popular selection. We sell this either with or without roasted cacao nibs in bar or bulk form. It is also used in many of our truffles and goes exceptionally well with red wines.
- 40% Mid Dark Chocolate
- This is a sweeter dark chocolate and is the chocolate that we use most for unique chocolates containing spices. Our mid-dark cayenne chocolate is one of our top sellers and goes very well with both red and white wines.
- 40% Milk Chocolate
- This is not your ordinary milk chocolate! Not only does it contain a significant amount of cocoa solids in comparison to other nationally sold milk chocolates, but we make our milk chocolate with all natural buttermilk. This combination has endeared our milk chocolate to many individuals that would previously only eat dark chocolate. It is definitely worth a try! We use it quite a bit with our caramel creations and truffles. It goes wonderfully with white wine as well.
- White Chocolate
- Our truffles would be nowhere without this necessary ingredient! It has become a mainstay in most of our truffles and is the primary ingredient in our best selling cheesecake truffle! We have also started blending it with white wine for our Catawba Fusions!
- Diebetic Friendly 69% Very Dark Chocolate
- Made especially for Sleepy Jean’s family members that cannot have sugar, it is made with all natural fructose from corn instead of organic sugar. (Fructose may be used as a sugar substitute by some diabetics and other individuals that cannot have sugar. It varies by person so we always suggest you consult with your doctor first.)
- Freshly Made Caramel
- Oh, what at treat. This was the first commercially available product sold by Sleepy Jean’s Confections. Our early customers know us almost better for our freshly made caramel than our chocolates! But the combination of our 68% dark chocolate and caramel has won those early purchaser’s hearts and tummies!
