About Us
Sleepy Jean's Confections, Inc. was born from a desire to actually manufacture chocolate, not just buy a large manufacturer's chocolate and melt it to make truffles and other confections. Sleepy Jean wanted the chocolate to be as fresh as possible and preservative free! So, Jean started experimenting with cacao beans (see photo), cocoa butter and sugar in early 2005. Her initial mixtures were coarse and bitter, but as time went on and her process was refined, she began to make chocolate that her friends actually liked! 
Sleepy Jean's Confections now has 5 basic types of chocolate - all made fresh from Fair Trade and Organic cocoa butter and sugars and Fair Trade and Organic cacao beans, when available. Sleepy Jean's completes every step of the chocolate making process from roasting the bean to packaging. Consequently, the price may be a bit more, but you are guaranteed a true experience when you bite into one of Sleepy Jean's preservative free, freshly made chocolates!
